Announcing the Arrival of Our New Children's Illustrated Book: "The Zig Zagging Zebra". Christian Children's Illustrated book

We are thrilled to announce the release of our very first children's Christian/faith based illustrated book, "The Zig Zagging Zebra"! This has truly been a labor of love, with over a year and a half of dedication, passion, and learning poured into its creation. As I reflect on this journey, I am filled with gratitude for the experiences and insights gained along the way. The world of publishing is vast and intricate, and I am excited to continue learning and growing within it.
Why a Christian Children's Illustrated book?
The inspiration to create a children's book stemmed from my personal experiences reading to my boys. Books have an incredible impact on children and adults alike. Through these stories, we can instill values, spark imagination, and create lasting memories. However, I have been surprised and sometimes disheartened by the content found in many children's books today, even those designed to teach phonics. Some of these books include themes like witches, monsters, and ghosts, which are not the messages I want to share with my children.
This realization fueled my passion to create my own books, filled with positive, faith-based principles and lessons that children can grasp and remember. My goal is to provide stories that promote good morals and values, and I hope these messages resonate with both children and their parents.
The Journey of Creation
I worked for a while with a design company in Oxford who focused on book design and layout and loved working with that medium. Writing the story itself was the most challenging part of the process, but my passion for the project kept me motivated. I wanted to craft a story that was not only meaningful for believing families but also accessible and enjoyable for any family.
It started with drafting the narrative, revising and refining it repeatedly. Once I had a clearer idea of the story's length and plot, I began mapping out the layout designs for the pages. This involved envisioning how each page would look and ensuring the illustrations complemented the text. The book underwent numerous changes and developments before reaching its final form.
"The Zig Zagging Zebra" focuses on the theme of hearing and listening to their father's voice, a message that is subtly woven into the narrative. It is my hope that this story will be the first of many, with a long-term plan to create a series of books, each representing a different letter of the alphabet and focusing on various aspects of faith, good morals, and principles. Starting with the letter Z may seem unconventional, but sometimes the end is just the beginning!
